Quang Ninh province: Over VND6.8 billion to support AO victims

In 2017, the Quang Ninh provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange has mobilised over VND6.8 billion from social resources, an increase of 11.17% compared to 2016, to assist Agent Orange victims.

The figures were announced during a meeting, held recently, to review the work in 2017 and carry out work for 2018.

According to the provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange, in 2017, it has helped repair or build 23 houses, give monthly assistance and urgent assistance to 165 victims, invest VND657 million to build the detoxification centre and equip the rehabilitation room, or offer assistance in cash and exhibits to AO victims of over VND6.4 billion.

In 2018, the association will continue to mobilise social resources in assisting AO victims, mark the 57th year of AO calamity in Vietnam, address procedures for AO victims, and carry out emulation among the association.

During the meeting, the Dong Trieu town and Hai Ha district Associations of Victims of Agent Orange, as well as 16 collectives and 26 individuals, were honoured for leading activities in assisting AO victims.
