Meeting on the implementation of Van Don – Mong Cai Highway

On Mar 10, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee had a working session with Sun Group on the implementation and adjustment of the Van Don – Mong Cai Highway Project. Quang Ninh’s Chairman, Nguyen Van Thang, presided over the meeting.

Van Don – Mong Cai Highway Project is invested under the form of Public-Private-Partnership PPP and Build-Operate-Transfer BOT with a total capital of 11,000 billion VND. The construction duration is expected in two years. This highway, 80 km in length and 25.25 m in width, is designed with four lanes and maximum speed of 100km/h.

Basing on the actual construction, Sun Group suggested some adjustments, for example increasing designed speed to 120 km/h from 100km/h, reconsidering completion deadline, updating traffic volume on the highway…

After listening to opinions raised by relevant departments and localities, Quang Ninh’s Chairman affirmed that Van Don – Mong Cai Highway played an important role to Quang Ninh’s tourism and trade development and connection with other key economic regions. Therefore, Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee agrees on state budget contribution to the project and designed speed to 120km/h.

In order to implement the project as scheduled, Quang Ninh’s Chairman required Provincial Project Management Board of Transport Construction Works to urgently complete the dossiers relating approved adjustments.
