Titop marine and island tourism planning officially announced

On Dec. 5, the Ha Long Bay Management Board hold a conference to announce detail planning of Titop marine and island tourism area on Ha Long Bay.

Titop marine and island tourism area  covers a total area of 3.7 hectares, including components, such as: the pier, management and operation areas, research and conservation zone, beaches, sightseeing spots, etc, Titop island and a part of the water surface area in the South and Southeast of the island.

Located in the heart of Halong Bay, around 12 kilometers from Tuan Chau wharf, Titop island has become a popular tourist site, receiving thousands of tourist arrivals each day. It is expected to become one of the attractive tourism attraction offering ecological and cultural tourism experience, meeting requirements of conservation and promotion of the values of the Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage site.

In the past, this island named Cat Nang. The name of Titop came from the story that in 1962, Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Soviet Union astronaut Gherman Stepanovich Titov visited this isand. To remark this event, contributing to enhance the friendship of the two countries, President Ho Chi Minh suggested to name this island as Titop.
