Top must-see attractions to visit in Uong Bi

Uong Bi, a city of Quang Ninh province, is one of the amazing destinations alluring many visitors to come. It owns a beautiful natural landscape with acient pagodas and relics. The city covers an area of 240 km² and was promoted from a town to a provincial city February 25, 2011. When on a journey to Uong Bi city, make sure each of these places are on the itinerary.

Yen Tu relic

Located 1,068 metres above sea levels, Yen Tu Mountain has different names such as Tuong Son (Elephant Mountain), Bach Van (White Cloud), Phu Van Son (Floating Cloud) and Linh Son (Holy Mountain). The Yen Tu historical relic and landscape area encompasses Thuong Yen Cong Commune and Phuong Dong Ward in the north-west of Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province. Yen Tu is also a museum of architecture and diverse fauna and flora. It has favourable conditions for research in history, spiritual culture, tourism potential, ecological environment, bio diversity and gene protection.

Particularly, Yen Tu Festival, which is held at the Yen Tu historical relic and landscape area, from the tenth day of the Lunar New Year through the end of the third lunar month, has become a big spring festival for Buddhists and tourists nationwide.

Yen Tu also witnessed Viet Nam’s struggles against invaders from the north and the west, becoming a symbol of Viet Nam’s independence and self-mastery.

With its significant historical, cultural and natural values, Yen Tu was recognised as a Special National Relic Site in September 2012. It was also selected as one of the 10 most popular spiritual destinations in Viet Nam by the Viet Nam Records Organisation.

Ba Vang pagoda

Ba Vang pagoda is situated in Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province. The pagoda dates back to the 13th century, when the Truc Lam Zen School was founded by King Tran Nhan Tong of the Tran Dynasty.The pagoda located on the 340m tall Thanh Dang Mountain, Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province, includes a large forecourt, a sanctum, a Holy Mother’s temple, a Mountain Spirit temple, and an old longstanding well.

Nowadays, Ba Vang Pagoda is becoming a more attractive destination for spiritual tourism in Vietnam and a reliable destination for pilgrims. It has increased the confidence of the majority of Buddhists across the organization to visit the pagoda.

Yen Trung lake

Located in the national road 18A connecting Hanoi with Ha Long, about 5 km from Uong Bi city’ Yen Tu heritage site, Yen Trung lake tourist site is regarded as a “small Da Lat” due to its romantic and peaceful landscapes.

As one of Quang Ninh province’s largest lake, Yen Trung is formed by a damp laid across. Visiting this tourist site, tourists will be lured by the pristine beauty of pine forests lying next to wandering roads and a large paved road leading to Yen Trung lake.

Hang Son Pagoda

Hang Son pagoda is situated in Hang Son cave. It is where the national hero Tran Hung Dao offered voties after struggling against the Nguyen-Mong invaders. Visiting the pagoda, tourists will be suprised at stalactites with a variety of amazing shapes, and have a chance to enjoy the mild and peaceful atmosphere.
