In three recent years, Ha Long potential and advantages for tourism development seem to be wakened up.

Ha Long, the city of a stunning bay, was a most-wanted destination for any Vietnamese people since 15-20 years ago, and now has become a symbol of tourism of not only Quang Ninh but also Vietnam.

In the period of 2007-2011, the campaign voting for Ha Long Bay as one of the 7 new natural wonders of the world helped this 272km2 city to become more famous than ever. Ha Long Bay is not only the dream destination of the Vietnamese but also the attractive address to millions of international visitors.

Ha Long used to be compared with many Asian leading destinations, such as Bali in Indonesia and Phuket in Thailand. However, since some other tourism cities in Vietnam like Nha Trang, Da Nang and Phu Quoc were fully invested with airports and hotels, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists, Ha Long seems to be a bit slow in the race to maintain its reputation.

In three recent years, Ha Long potential and advantages for tourism development seem to be wakend up. The city has been dramatically changed thanks to a series of projects with new products of tourism helping to connect Ha Long city to all the localitites nationwide and the others in region and the world. In particular, the investment projects by leading groups, namely Vingroup, Sun Group, DOJLAND brought Ha Long a new look with oustanding construction works.

Thanks to its continuous development of infrastructure, tourism services, along with the inherent values, Ha Long city has seen the strong growth of the number of tourists arrivals. Ha Long once again affirmed its leading position of Vietnam tourism and become more reputive in the glocal tourism map.
